Personality: If you had met this lovely woman in her early years as a creature of the night, you might never have met anything else again; raging with a cold burning lust for destruction, blood, and feral sex, Claribel embodied the full, true nature of thing she had become. With no mortal rules to hold her back, she frenzied amongst the humans in a terrible wave of death and chaos, her desire fueled on by her Maker.

However, if you were to meet her today, the most you would receive is a polite smile and a quiet bonjour. Now, Claribel is a passerby of this world, of it but rarely in it. Demure, gently spoken and rarely with a harsh word for anyone – be they human or otherwise – the woman wishes only to hold no audience, to leave as little memory as possible in those she encounters. Her change in temperament is no foolhardy attempt at atoning for her past sins; on the contrary, Claribel knows to her core that she is damned beyond salvation, though this does not mean she should fall from grace any further. Accepting what she is, the aged vampire has long since passed her melancholy of oppressive guilt, turning instead to a life of hushed interactions with those she finds intriguing, lightly stepping through the world with little or no care as to the wars, strife, or battles that may rage around her.

This is not to say that Claribel is indifferent to the suffering of those in such situations; she has often entered combat merely to save a few men, although on the whole, Claribel steps in when she feels someone of importance – usually of a future importance – is in danger of finding themselves dead. These people are not always those in charge, and more often than not, they are the least likely of be considered for such a role.

There is one other reason the woman will interject herself into a battle: undead. Be it vampire or ghoul, if it is preying upon humanity, then she will end it as quickly as possible; the same, of course, goes for lycans, a species she has had few encounters with – though studies quite often. It also applies to humans, as they are the most capable of bringing harm to their fellow man.

Additionally, she is quite attached to her ‘familiar’ companion, more oft than not asking for his advice, point of view, or simply conversing with him as a friend. Claribel has found herself growing fond of this man, nearly so much as to give him new life.

Physical appearance: Lissome and poised, Claribel can easily be spied amongst a crowd. Standing at 5’9” (1.75m), and weighing in at only 140lbs (63.5kg), she is considerably taller – and lighter – than most women around her, and by far more pleasing to the eye. Ebony, straight hair falls to brush over her shoulders, front feathered shorter to frame her face, as well as her striking golden emerald eyes. However, as these stunning exotic orbs belong to an ageless Midian, they will burn brightly in a crimson hue when her ire is raised, or blood is in the air. Timeless and yet still young, her eyes reflect a great deal of emotion when warranted, although more often than not they echo with aching loneliness and sad amusement of the world she has found herself in. Dusty rose lips are set in a fair complexion of smooth skin; though she is lightly colored, she is by no means pale. A healthy pink flush rests on her cheeks, filling her countenance with the look of life, not undeath.

No tattoos adorn her body, no outrageous scars mar her features.

As for her clothing, when simply ‘larking about town’, Ms. Charbonneau prefers to be dressed with as little fuss as possible. Commonly attired in muted tones, she will don a crisp white button-down collar opened at the neck, and tail tucked into a knee-length black skirt, whose ruffle is the only floofy touch of the entire ensemble. Charcoal stockings that rise to her knees and straightforward black flats take care of her legs ([url=. Over top of her shirt is a rich grey-wool coat which is cinched by a broad band at the waist; crowning the lot of it is a deep maroon beret, ostensibly to keep her head warm, though perhaps also a transfer from her favorite era. Following the odd beret is an addition of the even odder black leather half-gloves, possibly worn for looks, possibly for handling silver, or perhaps just a strange affinity for the peculiar.

One other trivial bit of her accoutrements are the black cigarettes near constant between her lips; of course, she no longer need worry of the physical repercussions, and in short, they give her something to do with her hands. Manufactured by the oldest cigarette company in the world, Sobranie brand, they cater to a wide range of discerning patrons, but her particular taste runs towards these ebony, high-content cigarettes.

Choice of Weaponry: Although presently Claribel attempts to remove herself from combat if at all possible, she is not precluded from using a handsome set of 19th century flintlocks when the occasion arises. The first of the twins, a simple and spare H. W. Mortimer and Son Standard, has been machined into a breech-load that will accept a .475 Linebaugh round. The cartridge is based on the .45-70 Government cased cut down to 1.5 inches and is loaded with .475 inch diameter (12.1mm) bullets (see: link). It is often considered to have a greater stopping power and larger impact than the more common.454 Casull round, though due to its unusual make and low use, the Linebaugh is oftentimes overlooked in the ‘powerful cartridge’ debate; however it has since been replaced by the .475 Ruger, a modified version of its cousin. Internally reconstructed to withstand the enormous pressure from recurring firings of its high caliber projectile, the HWMS externally appears much the same as it did in the first 160 years of its life.

Due to reconstruction and modification, the pistol gained fourteen pounds, sending its bare weight from a heavier-than-standard 6 lbs (2.7 kg) to a rather hefty 20 lbs (9.7 kg); it isn’t necessarily a back-breaking weapon, but not one any sane person would want to fire more than once. The rounds themselves are either mercurial explosive FMJ or blessed silver alloy hollow point, the latter of which being an irritation to Claribel if used for any extended period of time.

Though designed to be a breech-loading weapon, the HWMS is not an impractical choice for the aged vampire; due to her unnatural speed and dexterity, Ms. Charbonneau is capable of reloading this handgun in the same time it would take a normal round to be cambered in a semi-automatic weapon.

The H. W. Mortimer and Son’s rifle bore engraved pistol is the second of the pair; being more ostentatious and rather showy it is, of course, frequently used. Having been reconfigured to accept a five-round magazine of .45 ACP rounds, the HWMS engraved is by far the most economical to use as well. As with its companion, this pistol has been overhauled to endure multiple successive firings of a high caliber round, though it retains its previous external appearance; the projectiles are also similar, being of a blessed silver alloy FMJ. And again, much like the Standard, the engraved put on few pounds during its ordeal , climbing from an empty 4.5 lbs (2.04 kg) to a decent 17 lbs (7.7 kg); 18.5 (8.4 kg) when fully loaded.

(For the sake of knowing which is which when discussing them to her armorer (see: History), the HWMS Standard has been affectionately named ‘Stan’, while the Engraved has been bestowed the name ‘Ingrid’. Both pistols reside in a dark, leather-bound case, carried at all times by the demure woman.)

Lastly, Claribel relies on a double set of blued-silver throwing knives. One pair dwells alongside the pistols, while the other makes their home in the small of her back, tightly sheathed to be invisible under her clothing; silver being so intimately close to her skin is a constant reminder of her condition, rendering them quite useful in checking her pride. These blades are just a lethal as bullets when in her hands; even so, they are used principally in the stopping of human adversaries.

Abilities: Claribel’s status as a ‘Category A’ comes with a great many perks, though of course, there are pitfalls to perfection. Her ability to recover from major wounds and humanly-fatal injures is remarkably swift (in four or five posts); however, taking her head or staking her heart will kill her just the same as any other undead. This is not to say decapitation is the only method of ridding her from the world: incredible amounts of severe damage will result in her loss of unlife. These methods are best employed with a weapon of silver, or a silver projectile, although silver itself is only a minor nuisance to the woman. Sunlight, as well, is a slight annoyance, tapping her strength and energy the longer she continues to stay in its embrace; if desperate, attempting to kill her while in the day hours would prove slightly more fruitful than at night, but only if the one attempting it feels confident to do either.

Her supernatural advantages do not end with her durability, as Claribel benefits from exceptional agility, stamina, strength and reflexes, each of which would make her quite deadly on its own.; however they appear to be less advanced than her preferred methods of controlling a situation. Obviously useful in combat situations, these traits grant her a larger freedom than she previously enjoyed as a human, as she takes pleasure in many diversions that are at once dangerous and demanding of skill. And as for her martial abilities - the vampire would actually prefer to stay out of conflict – she will rely on her familiars (see: below, History) when forced past her human weapons, calling upon those she has…acquired over the long years. Teleportation, levitation and a heightened feel for hypnosis (the most practiced and strong of her abilities) are boons to her fighting prowess, but again, she would prefer to use them in non-combative situations.

Ms. Charbonneau’s reliance on her familiars – and hypnosis and prescience - is an oddity amongst her kin. She does not call on them as a show of power, nor does she dredge them up for simple skirmishes. Instead, she has grown accustomed to having a particular familiar around at all times – predominantly when not in combat. His presence has become one of strange constancy, an unvarying companion of sorts, which has slowly gained a near- permanent physical place at her side. The steadfastness – and insolent wit – he often shows is at odds with how he met his demise: the woman’s own bloodied fangs. (See: History for more information.)

Perhaps the most telling trait of all is her need to imbibe the blood of a human. With a sad sort of luck, Claribel has reached the stage in her vampiric life where she need only drink once a month; it is a great deal better than many others, who must drink once a week, or even once a day. As for those she drinks from, should they be virgins they will gain the traits of a vampire; should they be less pure, they will be transformed into exceptionally resilient ghouls. Thus far, Claribel has never created another vampire and allowed it to live.
